Rich sepia tones surround the inviting portrait of outgoing Port Commissioner Topsy-Elvord, she is encircled by her family and business acquaintances. Topsy-Elvord was the first black woman elected to the Long Beach City Council, among many other firsts, she paved the way for future generations to enjoy the African American Heritage Society of Long Beach which she co-founded. The plaque was presented on June 30, 2008 after five years of public service by the City Council of Long Beach.

A simple black frame surrounds royal blue matting that encases the blue background of the achievements of the former Mayor Beverly O’Neill. She stood as Mayor of Long Beach, California an unprecedented three times, the last time as a write in candidate, she brought international trade, tourism, emerging technologies, and expanding retail to her local area. She was presented with this Leadership Award on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel’s Excellence in Leadership Luncheon.

The color of the subject in this montage catches your eye immediately, bringing your eyes to focus on him and his family, surrounding him in hushed shades of blue demonstrates the milestones in his life which is encompassed in a golden frame within black. Commissioned by the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, and presented on June 25, 2009.

With astute details this blue on blue portrait of Albert E. Dotson, Jr. is depicted with soft strokes to outline his achievements and honors that surround him. Mr. Dotson is an equity partner in the Miami law firm of Bilzin, Sumberg, Baena, Price and Axelrod, LLP. The plaque is to commemorate his retiring as President and Chairman the 100 Black Men of America, Inc., where he served for many years.

Royal purple matting surrounds this arrangement of historical moments in the life of Shashin Desai. Memories held dear of family and business acquaintances, set forth the portrait of the outgoing President and Founder of the International City Theater, which began 25 years ago as a 99-seat black box building on the campus of Long Beach City College. Desai was presented with this tribute portrait when he announced his resignation from the Theater he had created.

Shades of blue-gray matting surround this artfully arranged piece, done in a collage of important moments in Chief Anthony Batts life. He was honored for his over two decades of service to his community, displaying such awards and commendations for heroism, crime reduction, community activism, and innovative programs at the local, state and national level. The Long Beach Police Foundation presented him with this plaque at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, California, on Friday, October 16, 2009.
